The Federal Government has declared Tuesday October 19 public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlud.
The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, made this declaration on Friday, October 15, while congratulating Muslim faithfuls on this year’s occasion.
Admonishing all Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, patience and perseverance like the Holy Prophet, he enjoined Nigerians, particularly Muslims, to refrain from violence, lawlessness and other acts of criminality.
He also called on youths to embrace the virtues of hard work and peaceful disposition to fellow humans, irrespective of faith, ideology, social class and ethnicity, as doing so would guarantee peace and security in the country.
The minister further urged Nigerians to cooperate with President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts to build a progressive and enviable nation that all citizens would be proud of.
Eid-ul-Mawlud is an Islamic celebration marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, commemorated on the 12th day of Rabi-ul Awwal on the Islamic calendar.
