The Nigeria Police Force has clarified that the recent operation at the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Secretariat in Abuja was not a raid on the union’s offices but a targeted effort to apprehend a wanted foreign national involved in various criminal activities.

According to Force Public Relations Officer ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the suspect was traced to a shop within the NLC building in the Central Business District.

Adejobi emphasized that the operation was lawful and focused solely on capturing the suspect, who poses a significant security threat across Nigeria and other African countries.

He noted that the NLC Secretariat itself was not the target, and the police have called for the NLC’s cooperation as the investigation continues. The Force reiterated its commitment to professionalism, respect for human rights, and the rule of law.
