The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has committed to enhancing the welfare of minors in detention after being allegedly involved in the #EndBadGovernance protest.

This comes after a tense situation at a federal high court in Abuja on Friday, where several minors collapsed while awaiting their arraignment. They were subsequently granted bail, set at 10 million naira each, with the prosecution requesting that those who collapsed be removed from the charges.

In response, Minister Olawande has assured the public that his ministry is working closely with the Ministry of Interior to investigate the matter and improve conditions for the young detainees.

He emphasized that the ministry’s focus goes beyond this particular case, with efforts underway to upgrade facilities for youth in custody across the nation. Olawande affirmed the ministry’s dedication to safeguarding the interests and welfare of all Nigerian youth.
