Nigeria will, today , celebrate a transition of power with the hopes to sustain the nation’s democracy.
In his last nationwide broadcast as the President of the country on Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari said that the country witnessed a keenly contested Presidential elections since the first Republic which has demonstrated that the nation’s democracy is getting better.
He urged aggrieved parties involved in the last presidential election to accept the decision of the courts and join hands to build a better Nigeria .
Congratulating the president elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he said that his passion to serve Nigeria has paid off and he expressed confidence that his passion for excellence, reliance on competence , fairness in relationships and desire for Nigeria to be globally relevant would pay off.
Speaking of his experience while serving Nigerians, he said that he is leaving behind an electoral process which guarantees that votes count, results are credible , elections are fair and transparent and the influence of money in politics is reduced to the barest minimum as Nigerians can now elect leaders of their choice.
